The objective of our Urdu Poetry courses is to get students familiar with the complex Urdu words that are oftentimes used in Urdu poetry. The instructor will translate all the words in a poem for the students, and the students will then be encouraged to discuss their analysis, observations, and thoughts about the poem and/or the poet. Classes typically last for 1 hour and 45 minutes, and usually two poems are covered in each class.
One course offered in our selection of Urdu Poetry courses focuses on the poetry written by Mirza Ghalib and Faiz Ahmed Faiz. In about ten weeks, we will cover several poems written by the famous poets, and will also discuss elements of their lives and the time periods that they are from.
One course offered in our selection of Urdu Poetry courses focuses on Urdu modernist poets, such as Parveen Shakir, Noon Meem Rashid, Majeed Amjad, and Munir Niazi. In this course, too, over a span of about ten weeks, we will cover several poems written by these poets.
